Support for Java 13

Java 13, the latest implementation of the Java SE Platform, is now compatible with JRebel. That includes the two new preview features, text blocks (shown below) and switch expressions.

Text blocks — This preview feature gives developers an easier way to write multi-line strings.

Switch expressions — This preview feature adds the ability to use switch expressions in addition to switch commands, and introduces the yield keyword.

Increased Microservices Support

Two of the big additions in JRebel 2019.2.0 include support for DropWizard and Thorntail. When combined with the already stout support for microservices through Spring Boot, this added support makes JRebel ready for action on microservices.

DropWizard — one of the top three java microservices frameworks

Thorntail — which allows developers to package their apps as lightweight JARs.

Additional Support

JRebel 2019.2.0, in addition to general improvements and bug fixes, has updated support for Tomcat, WebSphere Liberty, Jetty, Payara, tc Server, Hybris, KumuluzEE, RestEasy, DeltaSpike, and MyBatis-Spring.

Lastly, with Apache Camel becoming more of a mainstay in the integration framework world, we revisited and improved upon our existing support for Apache Camel. That means support for many common uses, like adding or re-configuring routes, consumers, and producers.
